About My Work:

It all started when...

My journey as a painter began after my mother’s passing in 2006.  It was then that I began having vivid dreams of brilliant fields of wildflowers and the brightest of blue skies.  The colors were like none I’d experienced before and their brightness would not escape me.  They continuously flashed into my mind during the day and came back into my night-time dreams.  At a time of great loss and sadness, colors filled me with happiness and peace.  They soothed me and became symbols of my mother’s soul…all souls: boundless and immortal.

All my work is inspired by my initial colorful dreams, the meadows I played in as a child in Poland, as well as by the nature that surrounds me.  Especially, flowers.  Without any formal training, I paint my visions onto wooden boards and mostly enjoy painting on the grand scale.  I primarily work with acrylics and gels but also use paper, ink, pen, wax and oils.  I enjoy the slow process of layering paint and using heavy gels to create texture.  I also employ tactile techniques like scraping and etching and add unconventional details by handwriting my thoughts and poems within my pieces and allowing my children to add a few whimsical flowers of their own into each of my paintings.

I create my art in hopes of spreading the same joy and peace I felt - and continue to feel - when surrounded by heavenly color.
